Osaka is working to promote goodwill and friendship through urban technology exchanges with Shanghai and Hamburg (friendship cities) and with St. Petersburg (sister city). Osaka has had mutual visits of missions with Shanghai since 1982 and with St. Petersburg since 1983. In 2004, the city exchanged technologies with the former, regarding themes such as the utilization of space under roadways and the planning and construction of waterworks facilities, and with the latter, regarding themes such as city-wide municipal transportation and housing policy and housing construction and management.
We support the City of Osaka in liaising with and accepting missions from Shanghai and other cities.
