We opened our website in 1995, when the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings were held in Osaka City, to promote Osaka both at home and abroad. The website had recorded about 38 million hits by the end of 2004. Featured on the website are Osaka City's urban engineering information, with a data search function. The website also showcases images and information of bridges and scenic places (CITÉ Gallery), as well as outlines of our journals and publications (e.g. Millennium City - The Creation of Osaka).
In order to introduce Osaka City's urban engineering information to foreign countries, we systematically collect articles on surveys and research, policy-making, construction works and other urban engineering information that the Osaka municipal bureaus and departments have accumulated in performing their duties. These are then translated into English, along with photos and diagrams, and periodically compiled and issued as a journal entitled "Osaka and Its Technology".
The journal is sent to government agencies, municipalities, and research institutions in 88 countries and regions, and to foreign diplomatic and consular offices in Japan. And since the journal can also be searched and downloaded (PDF format) from our web site, it is well known as a practical reference for studying urban development and urban issues.
