Digitizing Urban Engineering Information

There are various documents generated by the city agencies (e.g. papers, reports, publications, statistical data, etc.). We digitally store them on CD-ROM (primary information, i.e. original text), and also process them into secondary information (i.e. abstracts, keywords, authors, etc.). As of December 2003, the secondary information of 15,600 articles had been digitally stored on CD-ROM.

To index these documents and data, moreover, we constructed our own database system and made it completely accessible so that it can be freely searched online.

Collecting and Storing Image Information

We have digitally stored on photo CDs about 9,700 photographs of Osaka's scenic places and facilities with basic data such as classification, copyright owners and keywords. We also solicited photographs under the themes "Hand down to people OSAKA-SCAPE NANIWA-SCAPE" in FY2000, and "Scenes of exhilarating Osaka" in FY2002. These excellent works are stored on CD-ROM and are being used to publicize Osaka's attractions.
