We are studying ways to formulate a new comprehensive plan (long-term master plan) that will point out new city planning targets and strategies for Osaka in the 21st century. In connection with this, we are making good use of the data and people network we have built up over the years to analyze socioeconomic aspects such as the falling birth rate and aging population, the changing structure of industry, global environmental problems, and the competition among domestic and foreign cities. We also conduct symposiums for input from citizens, foreigners, and scholars about outlining and drafting basic concepts, solicit catchphrases for those concepts, plan events such as The Future of Our City Conference, which is mainly composed of ward residents, and support the formulation of a comprehensive plan that takes a long-term outlook.
